To protect our organisations and ourselves, we all need to know more about cybersecurity. Traditional cybersecurity training has focused on the technology. However, new approaches also look at how humans are part of the problem—and the solution. Why do we still click on the link? What can we do to support each other and prevent data theft?

This course will help you understand the ‘why’ of cybersecurity and the risk it poses to the proprietary information all organisations hold. We’ll highlight the main issues around cybercrime and how cybercriminals continue to focus on data theft and fraud. And we’ll introduce you to psychological theories on motivation to help you understand how to improve your cyber defences.

The course is accessible to all with a good understanding of English. Because it’s run online, it can be taken at the learner’s own pace. However, we recommend it’s undertaken in groups so that the end of course exercise has the most benefit for your organisation and staff taking part.

The course can complement other cybersecurity training. It also complies with the need to provide cybersecurity awareness and training that some insurance and warranty policies include.

“The course has definitely made me think very clearly about my, and others connected with me, safety and vulnerability from cybercrime in all its forms. It has changed my attitude because it has given me the power to do so through knowledge gained from the course.”

“[During the end of course exercise]… there was lots of discussion and free-flowing conversation and ideas, and everyone commented on what a useful exercise it was to look at these issues together as a group.”
